About the Author
Michael (Mike) was born in Chicago, Illinois. He is a Navy veteran and a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago. A retired (2002) computer systems analyst, he has also served as a Blue & Gold Officer for the United States Naval Academy (in which he interviewed potential candidates for the Navy's college in Annapolis, Maryland). In 2013, he retired from his Naval Academy 'job', after 20 years of service.
In addition, he is an avid model railroader, and, in what's left of his spare time, he is a passionate reader and gardener.
Since retiring, Mike has turned his attention to writing. Mike writes in a variety of genres including: Science Fiction, paranormal, fantasy, and action adventure. He likes to blend these genres into unique and edgy novels, some of which are geared towards a YA audience.
Currently, he has completed several YA novels, including Piasa and Cryptid (a sequel to Piasa). In a different setting he has completed, LifeShift and Moonglimmer, the first two novels of a Sci-Fi Adventure series. To be released around the middle of 2021 is Ió 27. Recently published was, The Calling, a novel that follows a group of Naval Academy appointees who are instead put into an alternate school, the Chesapeake Naval Academy.
Other works in progress include, Shadow Lake, an experiment combining fiction with memoir that is currently a standalone novel scheduled for very late-2021, and The Calling II (Working title) Which continues that story and is combined with the third novel in the Piasa/Cryptid series. It is hoped to be completed by late 2021
Prior to his decision to publish independently under Double I publishing, Michael attended the San Diego State Writers’ Conference many times and was twice chairman, and also a past secretary, of the Schaumburg Scribes writing group in Schaumburg, Illinois, where he lives with his two assistants, rescue cats, Io and Iris. He also served as senior editor of the groups Chapbook three times. He is a former member of the Chicago Screenwriters Network and founder of the Schaumburg Novel Writers Group. In addition, he has taken several classes and attended other conferences.
