About the Author

Michael (Mike) was born in Chicago, Illinois. He is a Navy veteran and a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago. A retired (2002) computer systems analyst, he has also served as a Blue & Gold Officer for the United States Naval Academy (in which he interviewed potential candidates for the Navy's college in Annapolis, Maryland). In 2013, he retried from his Naval Academy 'job', after 20 years of service. In addition, he is an avid model railroader, and, in what's left of his spare time, he is a passionate reader and gardener. Since retiring, Mike has turned his attention to writing. Mike writes in a variety of genres including: Science Fiction, paranormal, fantasy, romance, and action adventure. He likes to blend these genres into unique and edgy novels that are mostly geared towards a YA audience.  Currently, he has completed several YA novels, including Piasa and Cryptid (a sequel to Piasa). In a different setting he has completed, LifeShift, the first of a Sci-Fi Adventure series. To be released early in 2019 is Moonglimmer. Lifeshift and Moonglimmer are stand alone novels, but will merge in Ió 27. Look for Ió 27 late in 2019.
Other works in progress include, Shadow Lake, an experiment combining fiction with memoir that is currently a stand alone novel, and an unnamed novel that follows a group of Naval Academy appontees who are instead put into an alternate school, the Chesapeake Naval Academy.
Michael has attended the San Diego State Writers’ Conference many times and was twice chairman, and also a past secretary, of the Schaumburg Scribes writing group in Schaumburg, Illinois, where he lives with his two assistants, rescue cats, Io and Iris. He also served as senior editor of the groups Chapbook in 2006, 2008 and 2009. He is a former member of the Chicago Screenwriters Network and founder of the Schaumburg Novel Writers Group. In addition he has taken several classes and attended other conferences.
